At A Glance
Using School Moments' technology, your school can easily implement an innovative educational activity in which students can get subscribers and write articles. This Web-based program receives articles and pictures from various sources (students, teachers, parents, volunteers, staff, and administrators), presents the information for editing/approval from teachers, and then sends a custom made document attached to an email to the student’s subscribers on a publication date that the school sets up. The site integrates a secure payment system for required or optional payment and/or donation.
Set Up
- Students create a list of emails addresses of friends and family that may wish to subscribe.
- The School Moments program automatically sends a custom invitation to each potential subscriber.
- Subscribers sign up online, in person at the school, or by mail. Your school decides if payment is required or optional with sign-up.
- Subscribers can accept invitations from multiple students who may help author their newsletter.
How It Works
- Students help make publications by completing writing assignments during computer time at school, a public library or at home.
- Younger students write articles with the assistance from assigned student buddies, from their teacher, from a classroom aide, or from a parent/guardian.
- Volunteers (teachers, aides, staff, parents, volunteers, interns) take pictures of candid school moments and/or scan student art/projects and send them to the School Moments image library.
- Teachers correct/edit/approve student writings.
- Teachers may (optional) attach a picture(s) to articles.
- Teacher, staff and administrators can compose short contributions also and (optional) attach pictures to them.
The Newsletters
- On a date that your school designates, your subscribers will receive a customized newsletter that is customized just for them.
- The School Moments server delivers the newsletters via email in PDF (Adobe) format.
- The subscriber's newsletters are created using content from the students to whom they subscribed, along with classroom and administrative articles from associated teachers.
- The newsletters are in PDF format, have the school’s custom header, support active linking (can be used to benefit sponsors, link to school calendar, etc), have click to enlarge capabilities with images, may include up to three images per article, and allow for picture captions.
